Are ALL Intros equal??
31 Oct 2012
Hey everybody, I've got a question for you. You know what bugs the daylights out of me? What is up with all of these seemingly absolutely crazy intros! For real, what do they mean? What is the purpose? Are they trying to do things that haven't been done before for the sake of showing off their so-called musicianship?

I need help! For a while there was an influx of totally irrelavent and even incomprehensible chords and runs that have no direct or indirect connection with the song that follows. Now before you go, "T.W. you're just "hatin" because you can't do it"...Oh yes I can! But the real question is, "WHY"? Who are you trying to impress?

Shouldn't an introduction prepare you for what is to come? To be very honest with you, I am bored and tired with "Impressive". My personal mantra is "Effective NOT Impressive"!

I will leave you with some of my favorite intros..."Minute by Minute", "This Will Be", "I Don't Know Why Jesus Love Me" Just a few..

C'mon people! Make introductions make SENSE!!

I just read a very interesting discussion on my FB page. Singers were expressing their frustration with musicians that either did not know or could not play HYMNS correctly. It was a very lively discussion with several seasoned musicians weighing in.
I am personally grateful for my musical heritage. Arnold Wagner, my cousin, is a classically trained pianist and insisted that I follow in his foot steps. He was so very well versed in ALL forms of sacred music that our annual concerts would progress from Handel to Hawkins!
Feel free to join in on the subject. Also if you have any questions that you would like me to address, this is the forum for it!
I'll be talking to you soon.....
